Will a step up transformer work on a wind generator?
I need to step up the voltage in order to charge my batteries and am only getting about 6v in a normal wind. Will this pull too hard on the generator?

a transformer can step up or down the voltage of any alternating current. it cannot change the number of watts available. if you have 100 watts available at 6 volts, going to 12 volts is still 100 watts, less any losses due to the transformer.
there are also design issues for a transformer operated at a non-optimal frequency.
