Pampa Wind Project, Pampa, Texas

The pride and joy of T. Boone Pickens’ wind farms, this project is expected to be the largest in the world once it’s completed in 2014. Pickens placed an order with GE Energy for 667 turbines, but the total project could encompass as many as 2,000 turbines. Once dominated by pump jacks and oil derricks, the panhandle of Texas will soon be swathed in wind turbines.
